Perception is generally regarded as a reflection of truth or reality, assimilation of existing and new information in order to understand the physical environment. However, reality depends on the perceiver. It is not a fixed entity, but the construction of our mind, and then it is projected back to the world through behavioral and communication with the surrounding environment. But "reality" is not necessarily a given; it may be dependent on the perceiver. The French philosopher Maurice Merleau Ponty asserts that in order to fully understand the nature of perception, we must take a step back so that we no longer see objects in the world through the lens of perception but make perception itself an object of consciousness.
